A Sucker Born Every Minute (PT Barnum)

According to David W. Maurer, writing in The Big Con (1940), there was a similar saying amongst con men: “There’s a mark born every minute, and one to trim ’em and one to knock ’em.” Here “trim” means to steal from, and “knock” means to persuade away from the scam. The meaning is that there is no shortage of new victims, nor of con men, nor of honest men.

Hi folks

I have sent this to many. You may agree with my views, or disagree. What we should all be thankful for is that we still have that prerogative, at least.

Maybe this is a stupid question but I’m going to ask it anyway. Why haven’t we heard of any small business filing a lawsuit in some court or another for the destruction of their business and their personal livelihood? Why hasn’t any individual in this country filed law suit for unlawful termination of his/her employment? Why is their no outcry through the courts over the legitimacy of other’s actions, which are causing so much havoc personally and collectively? Has fear or panic become a defense for any government entity or person to tread on the life and rights of another? Is this some great conspiracy which I alone am not privy to? Why aren’t the courts jammed rather than the hospitals? These may not even be the right questions to ask. There may be others which are much better.

Have we collectively lost our minds and become automatons; soon to be wards of the state, for a promised and yet to be delivered measley $1.200.00 pay off by the “leadership,” leaving behind our constitutional right to assemble, and who knows how many other freedoms, lest we contract a certain virus, because we fear a 2% chance of death more than the loss of our freedoms? And do we think this payoff will be without strings?

I can’t quite understand how we have been gullibly sucked so quickly and so easily into this hoax with no outcry. Satan must certainly be holding the chains with which we are bound, and looking up toward heaven, laughing.

I grew up in an era when we were taught by the education system to espouse a great outcry, given out by Patrick Henry, one of our founding fathers, who was a great force in establishing our Bill of Rights, as part of our personal creed to live by, when he shouted out, “give me liberty or give me death.” Does anyone else remember that?

I just got back today from Colorado where It seemed I have become a witness to the beginning of the dying throes of a great nation. Utah cops, stationed about every 20 miles from my house to the border seemed to just be watching and waiting for something.

Maybe God will use this “crisis” to further some great purpose. On that I can’t really say, but it certainly is painful and embarrassing to watch.

I am astounded!! I am only one voice, but I AM one voice, and I have this organ to use it.

Maybe this is just some bizarre April Fool’s joke and then we wake up…….
